Woodstock Fair Breaks Sales Record Each Day!

2 years ago 0

One of Connecticut’s largest state fairs, the Woodstock Fair located in Woodstock, Connecticut has finally come to a close.  The inventory was packed up, the tent was hauled away and the beans were counted.  It was the perfect end to a massive 4-day show of 15-hour work days. When the show started September 4th, I quickly realized that the crowds were hungrier and unlike any shows I vended at before.  My 10′ x 10′ concession booth became a hub for spice-craving fans and people who wanted gifts for chiliheads. The Woodstock fair was my debut of the Gift Bag, a nice red bag with a bottle of each of my flavors, and choice of keychain at a bargain price.  By the evening of the 5th, I had sold out of all 250 gift bags I brought to the fair, a rookie mistake underestimating my inventory. Sunday brought 50% greater sales

Brooklyn Fair: Great food, friends and new customers!

2 years ago 0

The Brooklyn Fair in Brooklyn, CT was an amazing time.  Sam & Oliver’s first 4-day event and a real challenge in the way of logistics, inventory and sales coordination. Saturday brought in the largest per-day sales results to date, with the entire show edging out the Made in CT Expo for the largest sales per-event to date as well. The inclusion of our 3-Pack Gift Bag as a value-added option made a big difference with buyers who couldn’t decide on which tasty flavors to go with or wanted to give a bottle to a friend or loved one as a gift. We loved the people who came out to see us with their dogs, wearing Pug shirts or had pictures of their own pugs.  We love you! Remember: Tag us at the show #samandoliver or @samsauces and you could win some free product!  Tag us with your pets too!

Lebanon Country Fair finishes on a high note

2 years ago 0

The 2015 Lebanon Country Fair ended on a good note after casual Friday and busy Saturday.  Lots of friends were made, sauces sampled and bottles sold to eager mouths and good homes.  I would like to say hello and thank you to my new friends from Heidi Jo’s Jerkey with sage advice and awesome treats they let me taste. Sam & Oliver will be vending outdoors next at the Brooklyn Fair starting August 27th and ending August 30th.

Fundraiser launched for donation to The FAITH Food Pantry for Sandy Hook, CT

2 years ago 0

I am seeking funding to make a sponsorship donation to the FAITH Food Pantry at the Kindness Dream Ride on it’s way to the Newtown Car Show. The Newtown Car Show was established in 2010 as a fundraiser for the Faith Food Pantry for Sandy Hook, CT. The Kindness Dream Ride is a 6.2 mile parade of dream cars led by police, firemen, ambulance, tribute vehicles and motorcycles through beautiful areas of Newtown. The KDR departs from Newtown High School, ventures through Sandy Hook Center, around the Flagpole on Main St. and down Route 25 to join the Newtown Car Show. Thousands of spectators, with checkered flags in hand, are expected along the KDR route and at the show to join the celebration! How will this fundraiser be used: A sponsorship donation will be made that will allow the FAITH Food Pantry to donate food for families within the community

Paleo Cinder Sweet Potato & Bacon Hash

Sundown Spareribs
Print
Ingredients
  1. 4-6 Lbs. Pork Spareribs
  2. Dry Rub See Recipe Below
  3. 1 Bottle Sam & Oliver Sundown Chipotle BBQ sauce
Dry Rub
  1. 2 Tbsp. Dark Brown Sugar
  2. 1 Tbsp. Sea Salt
  3. 1 Tbsp. Ground Cumin
  4. 1 Tbsp. Chipotle or Chili Powder
  5. 1 Tbsp. Cracked Black Pepper
  6. 1 Tbsp. Cayenne Powder
  7. 1 Tbsp. Smoked Paprika
Preparation (The Night Before)
  1. Wash and dry the spare ribs. Combine all the dry rub ingredients together into a bowl. Thoroughly work the rub into the meat. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Cooking
  1. Heat the oven to 200° F. Place the ribs into an uncovered metal pan and into the center of the oven for 5 hours.
  2. After 5 hours, cover the pan with aluminum foil and cook an additional 2 hours.
  3. After 2 hours (7 hours total time) increase the oven temperature to 300° F. Remove the foil cover and flip the ribs over using long handled tongs. Brush the back side with Sundown BBQ sauce. Carefully flip the ribs back over and brush the top generously with Sundown BBQ sauce. Return the ribs to the oven and continue baking, uncovered for 1 hour.
  4. Remove the ribs from the oven and allow to sit for 5 - 10 minutes before cutting or serving. Cut into sections of 3 to 4 rib chunks.
Serving suggestion
  1. Serve with freshly made coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread!
Notes
  1. Allow yourself time to be near the oven during the cooking process. Even though this is being baked relatively low temperature at 200° F, the rubs must be covered at the 5 hour mark or they will dry out.
  2. Don't cheat and take them out too early! Let the ribs bake for 2 hours covered before applying the BBQ sauce.
  3. Letting the ribs sit for 5 - 10 minutes will prevent the juices from running out. Cut the ribs at the time of serving, recommending the chunks be 3 - 4 ribs each portion.
